Founder

I am Kevin Smart and the founder of Cut & Bubble Mobile Dog Grooming. After spending most of my working life in the building industry, I decided that it is time to de-stress and do something that gives me a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment whilst working and doing something I love. I adore dogs, of all breeds and sizes, and having always kept dogs and groomed them ourselves at home using online resources to learn (mainly Boxers and Terriers). Given my enjoyment for this with my own dogs, I decided to look into the world of grooming as a career. With that decision made, I enrolled in a course to further my self-development and education. On completion of the course, I achieved the nationally recognized OCN Level 3 grade in dog grooming which also included Canine First Aid.

The First Meeting

When we first meet, we introduce ourselves and get to know you and your furry family member to make sure we are all happy with each other, and answer any questions that you may have. At this consultation, we will ask a few simple questions about your dog, their habits, behavior and any health issues that they may have for our records.  At the same time, we will quickly carry out a brief check of your dogs coat and its condition, as well as discuss your grooming requirements. We can also plan a grooming schedule for you to suit your time frame and budget should you wish, though not every visit will require a full groom if done on a regular basis. Some dogs may require some maintenance appointments in between full grooms to keep your dogs coat in good condition. If required, we can plan visits over a period of time and price them accordingly to make a money-saving plan for you overall.

The styling and finishing of your dog to your satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. We will have asked you about your expectation of the groom and the technique to be used be it clipping, de-shedding or hand-stripping depending on breed and the coat type. No two dogs are the same and some may require a different or mixed approach - if this is the case, we will inform you before we start the groom.

Health and Wellbeing

We promote the wellbeing and health of animals in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006. We can advise you of the best way to maintain your dogs at home between grooming visits if required. For example, properly brushing your dog at home will help prevent severe matting and tangling. We also encourage owners to prepare their dogs for the grooming process by playing with them as well as touching areas such as ears, eyes, mouth, tails, paws and in between the pads to ensure they are used to this. If you require advice on how to care for your dog at home, please call and ask - our advice is free.

Grooming is particularly important to your dogs health and wellbeing to prevent eye, ear, fungal and bacterial infections as well as flea and tick infestations. Amongst the various health issues that can occur, matting and tangling in particular can cause your dog stress and pain. Little and often visits are better than one long, infrequent, visit, and this also keeps your dog happy, looking fresh and smelling nice.
